B.T. Penney, 82, of Soddy-Daisy passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at a local health care facility. B.T. was married to Donna Brown Penney on December 18, 1964 for 43 years. For over 50 years he owned several businesses including Highland Florist, Penney’s Restaurant, Penney’s Package Store, and Bay Shore Restaurant. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and served on the USS San Jacinto in the South Pacific in seven major battles. He was an avid fly fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Highland Sportsman’s Club, the Hixson Masonic Lodge #727, a lifetime member of the Alhambra Temple Shiners, the Scottish Rites, the American Legion, and the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; Joe and Jane Penney, brother; Murl Penney, sisters; Edra Penney, and Irma Penney Holcomb.
He is survived by his wife; Donna Brown Penney, sons; Tracey Joe Penney, Steven Randell Lewis, twin sisters; Emma (Billy) Tucker, Wilma (Edgar) Watkins, brother; Earl Penney, step-granddaughter; Misty Pettit, grandson; Bryer Thomas Penney, step-grandson; Randy Lewis, 4 step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 12:00 noon Friday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Al Goss officiating followed by a Masonic Service. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors. Family will receive friends from 4-9 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
