- [S16] Obituary.
June 24, 1921 - December 22, 2012
Imogene Parton Stout, a long time Brainerd resident passed away peacefully Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the age of 91. Imogene was a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High class of 1939, and McKenzie Business Collage in Chattanooga.
She worked for Bank of America in San Francisco during WWII-to be close to her husband who was Chief on the USS San Francisco during Pearl Harbor and the Pacific campaign. Even in her later years, she remained active in the Pearl Harbor Survivors and Widows Organization. She also worked for over 30 years for James Morrison Realty on Georgia Avenue before retiring in the early 80’s. She did not let life’s challenges slow her down. She remained active, independent and focused on her family and friends until the end. For those that have read Tom Brokaw’s, “The Greatest Generation,” our mom, granny, relative and friend was certainly an example of that “Greatest Generation.” She will be missed!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Haywood Stout, Jr., her parents, Pearl Levi Parton and Samuel S. Parton of Soddy, TN. and her sister, Ona Elsea also of Soddy.
She is survived by her sons, Gary of Phoenix, AZ., and Stan (Mylissa) of Atlanta, GA., two grandsons, William Haywood and Charles Samuel of Atlanta, GA.
Graveside service will be 11:30 A.M. Friday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Barclay officiating. She will be laid to rest with her loving husband and beside her sister, Ona Elsea and brother-in-law, James Elsea at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.williamsonandsons.com. Arrangements are by Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, 8852 Dayton Pike, Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379.
