Harold Eugene Penney Dies At Age47; Air Force Vet
Harold Eugene Penney, Sr., 47, of No. 5 Walker Ave., Fort Oglethorpe,Georgia, died Thursday in a local hospital. Mr. Penney, a lifelongChattanooga area resident was a former employee with Swithchings Inc., inDetroit, Michigan. He was an 11 year veteran of the U. S. Air Force,serving during the Korean War. Mr. Penney was a member of the CalvaryNazarene Church and the Fidelity Lodge 558 F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Eaves Penney; two daughters,Mrs. Deborah Ann Kinney of Lansing, Michigan, and Miss Sharon ReneePenney of Fort Oglethorpe. Three sons, Harold E. Penney, Jr., andKenneth Dale Penney both of Detroit, Michigan, and Michael DeWayne Penneyof Sterling Heights, Michigan; two grandchildren. Parents, Mr. and Mrs.James Edward Penney of Wetumpka, Alabama; sister Patricia Nation ofDallas, Texas. Five brothers, Troy Penney and Jack Penney both ofWetumpka, Alabama, Marvin Penney, Jim Penney and John Penney, all ofChattanooga; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the South Crest Chapel ofLane Funeral Home with the Reverend J. Lake Gibson and the Reverend GlennSwagerty officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamilton MemorialGardens with Dick Hofer, Ledford Gibson, Jr., Calfin Ragan, Bed Walker,Tony Walker and Terry Penney serving as pallbearers. Graveside serviceswill be conducted by Fidelity Lodge 559 F&AM. Arrangements are by theSouth Crest Chapel, Rossville, Georgia, of Lane Funeral Home.
