- [S16] Obituary.
October 12, 1945 ~ June 23, 2017
William Franklin Springfield, Jr., or “Bill,” or “Billy Frank,” to those that knew him, went to be with his Lord on Friday, June 23, 2017, surrounded by his family. Bill was born on October 12, 1945. He was a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School and the University of Chattanooga.
Bill was a man of few words, but when he spoke, those words were golden. Ever wise beyond his years, eternally curious, and incredibly intelligent, there was always something to learn from him—and he was willing to teach you. Bill was extraordinarily generous, almost to a fault. He could teach you how to play poker and he could pick out beautiful jewelry for his wife of 52 years. Bill was, to put it modestly, a wonderful man. He never met a stranger, and was beloved by all his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Springfield, daughter Brenda (Mark) Egger, granddaughter Veronica (Boaz) Goudzward, and grandson Zachary Egger.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Frank Springfield, sister, JoAnn (John) Crutchfield, and sister Monteen (Charles) Norris.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/donate or to Daisy United Methodist Church general fund, 9508 Dayton Pike, Soddy Daisy, TN 37379.
Services will be 11:00 A.M Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Condolences and memories can be shared at www.williamsonandsons.com.
Arrangements are by Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, 8852 Dayton Pike, Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379.
