William Lewis Vandergriff, 88, of Falling Water, Tenn. passed away Friday, March 19, 2010, at his home.
He was born February 25, 1922, in Lone Oak, Tenn., to the late William F. and Ellen Lewis Vandergriff.
Mr. Vandergriff was retired from Hormel Foods after 40 years of service.
He was a member of Falling Water Baptist Church and was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II.
His son, William W. Vandergriff; brother, John Vandergriff; sisters, Elsie Hartman, Mary Hartman, and Allie Mayberry preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary Lucile Vandergriff; son, Kenneth W. (Elaine) Vandergriff; daughter-in-law, Patricia S. Vandergriff, all of Falling Water; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one half brother, Sam Vandergriff and one half sister, Rose Ethel Vandergriff.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. in the North Chapel with the Rev. Marcus Clagg officiating.
Burial will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
