- [S16] Obituary.
Robert Lee Alexander, 40, died in a local Chattanooga hospital on December 8, 1977, as a result of a van/truck accident in Marion County, TN. Mr. Alexander died from injuries received in the accident. Mr. Alexander was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving at bases in Iowa, England and Tripoli, Libya. He was a member of VFW Post 4848, was known as "Sky King" on the citizen band radio airwaves. He was disabled after having brain surgery (multiple abnormal blood vessels) when he was 30 in 1967. He actively worked annually with the Forgotten Child Fund board and served as President of the LaFayette CB Club Post #2 and Director of the National Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Janet Carlson Alexander, Soddy Daisy, TN and one daughter Kari Renee Alexander, Soddy Daisy, TN; his mother Mrs. Nina A. Alexander; one sister, Ruby Alexander Stout, Soddy Daisy, TN; one brother, Chester Jackson Alexander, Hixson, TN; also several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. His father, Chester Allen Alexander preceded him in death.
Services were held at 2 p.m. December 10, 1977 from the Chapel of the Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, Soddy Daisy, with the Rev. Gene Varner and Rev. David Jicka officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be John Henry Oliver, Jerry Fritts, Labron Alexander, R. L. Vaughn, Elbert Staley, Jr. and Ellis Arrowwood.
Contributions may be made to the Forgotten Child Fund.
