Alexander, Charlotte Hogan
Methodist Leader Dies At 104

Charlotte Hogan Alexander, 104, of Chattanooga, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003.
She resided at Asbury Place until her recent illness.
She was born in Jacksonville, Ill. and moved with her parents Harriet Crowther Hogan and Thomas Butler Hogan to Dodge City, Kansas when she was fvie years old. She married Verdon Earl Alexander in 1919 and moved to Chattanooga. Charlotte was very active in civic organizations and her church. She served as a Trustee of Hunter Museum and Red Cross Gray Lady at Erlanger for 15 years. Charlotte was President for the Daytonia Garden Club and Stuart Heights Community Club. She was a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church, served as President of United Methodist Women, Commission on Worship, and President of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verdon Earl Alexander, in 1958, and a grandson, Dr. Andrew Alexander, of Tampa, Fla.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Cunningham, and her husband, Richard H. (Dick), Chattanooga; son, Verdon Earl (Don) Alexander, Jr., and his wife Alma, Tampa, Fla.; grandson, Richard H (Rick) Cunningham, Jr., and his wife, Carole; great-grandson, Rhine Cunningham, all of Atlanta; grandson, Brian Alexander, and his wife, Lynn; great-grandson, Trevor, and great-granddaughter, Tracie, Brandon, Fla.; grandson, Carter Alexander and his wife, Karen; great-grandson, Benjamine Alexander and great-granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth, Sewanee, Ga.; and granddaughter-in-law, Connie Alexander, Cumming, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Kate Lyle Chapel of First Centenary United Methodist Church with Dr. David Harr officiating.
The family will receive friends in the Narthex one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Private interment will follow the service at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
