Chattanooga Times Free Press Jack Vandergriff Jack Vandergriff, 84, of Hixson, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009, at a local hospital. He was a retired contractor, and a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Shipley Vandergriff, of Hixson; sons, Melvin Vandergriff, of Chattanooga, and Danny Vandergriff, of Hixson; daughter, Pam Vandergriff, of Sale Creek; brothers, Joe Vandergriff and David Vandergriff, of Hixson; sister, Lois V. Lewis, of Hixson. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Edward Snodgrass officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. Monday, May 4, in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. today, May 2, at the funeral home..
