Charles Henry Kile, 79, of Soddy-Daisy passed away Monday, December 12, 2011, at his residence. He was born to Judge “Judd” Dall Kile and Minnie Irene Bohanan Kile in Cleveland, Tennessee on March 17, 1932. He was owner and operator of Kile Tile for 37 years. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of Daisy First Baptist Church, and he was the oldest living former member of the Soddy-Daisy Fire Department. He was the first fireman to drive the famous fire truck “Beulah” to a fire. He enjoyed family, fishing and NASCAR.
He was married for 43 years to Ellen Kay Hawkins Kile, who preceded him in death, as did his parents and; great-grandson, Max Edwin Smith; brother, J.D. (Marjorie) Kile of Knoxville; sisters, Carolyn Kile Whaley and, Mary Ellen Kile (David) Ledford all of Cleveland, Tennessee.
He is survived by his daughters, Kay Kile (Jerry) Smith of Soddy-Daisy, Jan Kile Manzari of Lawrenceville, Georgia; grandchildren, Jeremy (Marsha ) Smith of Chattanooga; Katie Smith of Soddy-Daisy; Matthew and Justin Manzari of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and 7 great-grandchildren; Jake, Charlie, Annabelle, Madeline, Pearl, Cate, and Sam Smith all of Chattanooga; brother-in-laws, James Whaley of Cohutta, Georgia; and Harold (Alethia) Hawkins of Cleveland, Tennessee; and very dear special friend, Pat Sylvester.
The funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 16, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. James Thomasson officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Roger Windham , Johnny Sullivan, Butch Higgins, Allen Branum, Ricky Kephart, and Jim Varner will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 9:00 on Thursday and after 11:00 Friday until time of service.
