J.C. Carringer, Sr., 77, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. He was born May 26, 1934 in Wehutty, North Carolina. J.C. enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17 and served in the Korean War. He came to the Chattanooga area in 1951 and went to work at Newton Chevrolet learning his craft as a body and paint man. J.C. worked at several body shops in the area later owning his own paint and body shop. He was known as one of the best paint men in the area. His son, Terry Lee Carringer, preceded him in death.
J.C. at the age of 16 married the love of his life, Betty, who he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on November 25. This union created their 6 children, Teresa (Tom) Petty, Glenda (Steve) Lasater, Jo (Marvin) Wright, Rod (Marie) Carringer, and Greg Carringer all residing in the Chattanooga area along with 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Services will be private.
