November 1, 1921 - August 22, 2011
Frances Tittle Henry, age 89, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 22, 2011, after a brief illness.
She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Reba Hickman Tittle.
She and her husband, Claibourne D. Henry celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past June.
She graduated in 1940 from Central High School and took business courses at Kirkman Vocational School. She worked for several years at the Chattanooga Electric Power Board and was a church pianist at East Lake Baptist Church for more than 5 years.
She has been an active member of Ridgedale Baptist Church for over 59 years and a member of the Joy Lydia Sunday School Class. She used her musical talents in various activities at the church such as Sunday School, Vacation Bible School , Quartets, weddings and funerals. She served as leader in the Women's Missionary Women on Missions as well as secretary and treasurer. She had done volunteer mission work in 12 states including Alaska and 4 foreign countries including Australia and South America.
She was an avid homemaker and dedicated to her husband, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband; son, Sam Henry and wife Pam of Chattanooga; daughter, Ginger Moss and husband Tim of Chickamauga, GA; 3 grandchildren, Brent (Candice) Henry and Trevor and Troy Moss; great-grandson, Blake Norton; great-granddaughter, Eliza Henry; sister, Johnnie Ruth Carpenter and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday morning, August 25, 2011 at 11:30 AM at the East Chapel of the Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 S. Moore Road with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.
Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Joy Lydia Sunday School Class at Ridgedale Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM.
Memorial donations may be made to the Faith Building Fund – Ridgedale Baptist Church, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist. 404 South Moore Road
