    Judith Roberts Norman, 61 of East Ridge passed away Tuesday November7, 2006 at her home. She was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church andhad worked for Provident Insurance and Cigna Health Care for over 40years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Roberts.
    She is survived by two sons, Robert (Jennifer) Norman and BrianNorman both of East Ridge; two sisters, Joyce Ownbey of Apison,Tennessee; Joan Brown of Graysville, Tennessee.
    Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the EastChapel with Rev. Don Lasley and Rev. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Burialwill follow at Varner Cemetery in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee.     Leland Wilson Roberts , 82, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2003, at a
    local hospital. He was a long life residence of Soddy-Daisy. He was aMarine Corps
    veteran and a 1938 graduate of Soddy High School. He was a carpenter andcabinet builder and was of the Baptist faith.
    He is survived by his wife, Hazel Roberts of Soddy-Daisy; daughters,Joyce
    Ownbey of Apison, Judy Norman of East Ridge, Joan Brown of Chattanooga;
    stepdaughters, Wanda Milligan, Wilma Watson, Linda Proctor, Connie Carr,all

    Mary Roberts, 81, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Friday October 7,2005, in a local hospital. She was a member of the Oak Street BaptistChurch.
    She is survived by daughters, Judy Norman, Joyce and son-in-law,Larry Ownbey, and Joan Brown; sister, Rachel Penney; grandchildren, LisaJensen, Jennifer McNeill, Bobby Norman, Jeremy Johnson, Brandon Johnson,Kristi Barber, Brian Norman and Candice Swafford; great grandchildren,Matthew Jensen, David Jensen, Austin Barber, and Alex Johnson.
    Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapelwith the Reverend Don Lasley officiating. Interment will follow in theVarner Cemetery. Family will receive friends today from 5-9 p.m. at thefuneral home.

    Mrs. Wilkie Henry Jenkins, 79, of Soddy, Tennessee, died in aChattanooga hospital early Wednesday morning. She was the daughter ofthe late Ezekiel and Rachel Henry, pioneer settlers of old James County.She had been a resident of Soddy for the past 50 years and was the widowof Emanuel A. Jenkins. She was a member of the Oak Street Baptist Churchand Ladies Bible Class for many years.
    Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Roberts, Soddy and Mrs.Wilburn Penney, St. Petersburg,
    Florida; a brother, Talmadge Henry, Graysville, Tennessee; andgranddaughters Joyce, Judy and Joan Roberts, all of Soddy, and ArlenePenney, Decatur, Georgia.
    Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Oak StreetBaptist Church conducted by the Reverends Jim Posner and William Sisk.Interment in Varner Cemetery.     Dr S. W. Jenkins Dies At Bakewell
    Union Veteran Fought With Tennessee Regiment
    Was Medical Examiner
    Dr Samuel W. Jenkins, 84, died at his home in Bakewell yesterday morning after a long illness.
    Dr Jenkins was born March 19, 1848 and was a Union veteran of the War Between the States , being a member of Company L, Third Tennesse regiment. He served for more than three years and was one of the 2,120 soldiers on the boat Sultan when it was destroyed during the war on the Mississippi river.
    Dr Jenkins was captured at Sulphur Trussel, Ala., and was in prison for six months at Andersonville. He helped to build the pontoon bridge across the Tennessee river here during the war and was also in the Battle of Orchard Knob. He was a practicing physician for more than sixty years and was pension examiner for the Southern railroad under Dr George Baxter and Dr W. A. Applegate of Chattanooga.
    Dr Jenkins had lived in the section of Soddy and Bakewell for more than fifty years and was a charter member of the Masonic lodge of Soddy.
    Dr Jenkins is survived by seven sons, E. A., S. W. Jr. And William, all of Soddy; Arthur of Emory Gap, Tenn. and John, Eddie and Theodore Jenkins of Bakewell; nine daughters, Mrs T. J. Welch, Red Bank; Mrs Elizabeth Woods, Toledo, Ohio; Miss Grace Jenkins, Chattanooga; Mrs Harry Sanders, Chattanooga; Mrs Walter Constigan, Cincinnati, Ohio; Mrs Jessie Ledford and Misses Glenna and Sallie Maude Jenkins, all of Bakewell; and Mrs Crystal Minnis of North Carolina; also a large number of grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Congregational church at Soddy, with the Reverend A. L. DeJarnette in charge, assisted by Reverend W. O. Peeples. Interment with be in Varner cemetery, with Hallett's in charge. The Masonic order will have charge of the services at the grave.
